• The C-1 Visa is available to those aliens in immediate and continuous transit through the United States, or an alien who qualifies as a person entitled to pass in transit to and from the United Nations Headquarters District and foreign countries, under the Headquarters Agreement with the United Nations. • What are the requirements for the C-1 Visa? a. The C-1 visa is allowed for those with continuous travel through the United States; b. The travel through the United States involves a layover of 8 hours maximum with no more than two transfers; c. The C-1 recipient has sufficient funds for transit; the C-1 applicant has permission to enter the 3rd country of destination; d. The C-1 visa holder has to be in possession of a ticket as for method of transportation (e.g., Cruise Boat Ticket, Airplane Ticket, Train Ticket); and e. The period of stay in the U.S. cannot go over 29 days. f. Holders of C-1 visas may not adjust their C-1 visa status to any other non-immigrant visa classification. g. No employment is allowed under this C-1 visa classification.
